THE SCIENCE OF CONNECTION
How To Connect With Anyone, Without Pretending To Be Someone You Are Not.
A self-paced programme for people who want deeper, more trusting relationships at home, at work and in everyday life.
ENROL NOWMaybe you're fine one on one and completely lost in a group. Your mind goes blank at exactly the wrong moment, you never quite know what to say next and you can't work out how to join a conversation that's already happening without it feeling like an interruption.
Everyone else seems to make it look easy. You go quiet, and then you worry that people are reading it as rude or cold or disinterested, when the truth is, you just couldn't find the way in.
Afterwards you replay all of it. Why did I say that? Why couldn't I think of something better? Did I make it awkward?
Somewhere along the way you may have decided that you're just not good with people.
But what if that isn't true? What if you've simply never been taught how connection actually works?
You know the feeling you want. A conversation that flows without effort. A room that warms the moment you walk in. A relationship that feels safe, easy, effortless.
How Connection Actually Works
Most of us assume connection comes down to being a good communicator, having the right words, sounding confident, being interesting enough to hold someone's attention.
That isn't really what connection is.
Communication is what we do. Connection is what the other person experiences.
It happens in the moments between people, in whether someone feels safe enough to be themselves with you, whether they feel heard rather than managed, whether they can tell you're actually paying attention, and whether they walk away wanting to keep talking.
Most of that is happening beneath the words, through our nervous system, our attention, our presence, our emotional regulation and our behaviour.
It's why two people can say exactly the same sentence and create completely different experiences. One of them makes you want to open up. The other makes you want to shut down.
The Science of Connection is about understanding why and about learning to be the first one.
Introducing The Foundations of The Science of Connection
The Foundations Of The Science of Connection is a practical, evidence-based programme that helps you understand what happens in the moments between people, and how to create more genuine connection in your everyday life.
Grounded in neuroscience, psychology and behavioural science, it explores the subtle and often unconscious interactions that decide whether someone feels safe, seen, heard, respected and valued in your company.
You'll learn how your nervous system, presence, attention and emotional regulation shape every interaction you have. You'll understand why connection gets so much harder when you're stressed, distracted or overwhelmed, and what to do when you notice it happening. And you'll learn how to bring real intention to the way you show up with the people around you, at home, at work, in groups, in friendships, and in all the small moments that usually pass unnoticed.
Information Stops Flowing
Teams who withhold real information until it's too late.
People Quietly Disengage
High performers quietly disengage instead of pushing back.
The peer who keeps it transactional because opening up never felt safe.
Control Replaces Trust
A leadership presence your people experience as control and mistake for coldness.
Inside The Foundations Of The Science of Connection
Four modules covering the science and the practice behind genuine human connection including:
The Neuroscience of Connection
Understand what's happening inside you when connection gets difficult. What goes on in the brain and nervous system when we interact with other people, and how your internal state shapes the experience you create for someone else. You'll learn why stress, self-consciousness and overwhelm change the way you show up, so that you can recognise it in the moment rather than concluding you're terrible at this.
The Psychology of Belonging
Understand what makes people feel seen, valued and safe. Our fundamental need for belonging, and the psychological conditions that help a person feel accepted and understood. You'll learn to spot what creates belonging in a room and what quietly gets in its way.
The Relationship Blueprint
Understand what helps relationships move beyond the surface. The patterns that build trust, rapport and closeness over time. You'll learn what helps people open up, what strengthens a relationship, and how a conversation moves from polite to real without being forced.
The Influence Code
Understand why some people are listened to, trusted and remembered. How warmth and credibility work together to create influence, and how to build both without becoming performative or pretending to be someone you're not.
An in depth worksheet with practice activities to embed the learning for each module
A monthly Q&A session to get your questions answered so you donβt stuck in the theory
Learn It. Try It. Notice What Changes.
This isn't built to be another course you consume and forget.
It's self-paced, and every module gives you something you can take straight into a conversation you were already going to have this week. At work, at home, with friends, with people you've only just met, in the moments where connection either happens or it doesn't.
A four-module, self-paced digital programme built specifically for high-performing, high-drive men in professional and leadership roles.
The programme is designed and delivered by two expert psychologists with decades of combined experience in human behaviour, high conflict mediation, executive coaching, and building top-tier organisational performance.
This isn't therapy.
It isn't a soft-skills seminar.
It's a precise, behavioural operating system for men who already win and want to lead in a way that multiplies their influence instead of capping it.
ENROL NOWWhat Changes In The Moments That Currently Leave You Stuck
Here's what that looks like once you've worked through the four modules.
When your mind goes blank in a group, you'll know what's actually happening in your body and what to do about it, instead of deciding on the spot that you're bad at people.
When a conversation starts to stall, you'll have a way to keep it going that doesn't rely on being quick or clever.
When someone seems distracted or closed off, you'll be able to read what's going on for them, rather than taking it personally and retreating.
And when you leave an interaction thinking "what on earth just happened", you'll be able to work out what happened between you, which is what finally quietens the replay at eleven o'clock at night.
You won't be working from a script, and you won't be performing a version of yourself. You'll be working from an understanding of how connection is actually built.
The Harvard Study of Adult Development
The 85-year longitudinal study proving that the single greatest predictor of career longevity, health and life satisfaction isn't intellect or income, it's the quality of your relationships.
The Oxytocin Loop
The neurochemical mechanism of trust, and how specific communication behaviours physiologically trigger it in the people around you.
The Chameleon Effect
The neuroscience of rapport and how subtle behavioural mirroring builds unconscious trust faster than any amount of talking.
Mirror Neuron Research
Why your team's nervous system is reading your regulation (or dysregulation) before they process a single word you say.
You'll walk away not with vague advice to "be more empathetic," but with a mechanical understanding of why trust breaks down and the exact behavioural levers to rebuild it without losing an ounce of your edge.
Because This Isn't Really About Being Better At Conversation
It's about the quality of your relationships.
The colleague who trusts you enough to tell you what's really going on. The friend who feels comfortable picking up the phone. The partner who still tells you the little things. The person you meet at work who turns into someone you actually know. The child who feels properly listened to.
And the person who walks away from a conversation with you thinking, they really saw me.
Those moments are the difference between a life that feels connected and one that feels lonely, even in company. They don't happen by accident, and they don't happen because someone found the right words. They happen because someone understood what the other person needed to feel.
MODULE 1
The Hidden Cost of Dominance
Where command-and-control quietly taxes your influence and how to spot the specific dominance-first habits eroding the very trust they were meant to command.
You walk away with a personal map of the exact behaviours creating distance on your team right now.
MODULE 2
Nervous System Leadership
Your own composure under pressure sets the temperature of the entire room. Learn how to stay steady and influential when the stakes are highest.
You walk away with a repeatable way to regulate yourself before any high-stakes conversation.
MODULE 3
High Trust Communication
Learn how to deliver direct, hard truth so it lands as respect instead of a threat, changing behaviour without creating defensiveness.
You walk away with a concrete structure for the conversations you've been dreading or getting wrong.
MODULE 4
Building Respect That Lasts
Discover why authority built on fear eventually decays and the repeatable behaviours that convert competence into lasting respect.
You walk away with daily leadership behaviours you can genuinely sustain.
Each module includes video training plus 1-2 practical worksheets across the course, all designed to be completed at your own pace and built for men who want practical tools they can apply immediately.
Meet Kerry Maloney
- Recognise, in real time, the specific behaviours that create distance instead of trust
- Regulate yourself under pressure so your mind stops working against you in high-stakes conversations
- Deliver direct feedback and hard truths in a way that builds respect rather than resistance
- Build loyalty, discretionary effort and high performance, not just compliance
- Drive faster decision cycles with more initiative from direct reports
- Foster an environment where people speak up early, they challenge and have healthy debates
Why The Science Of Connection?
I've spent over thirty years in rooms with people at their most honest and sometimes, their most vulnerable - individuals working through pain they've never said out loud, teams that can't figure out why brilliant people keep failing each other, leaders carrying the weight of organisations that look strong on paper and feel hollow inside.
And every single time, underneath whatever brought them to me, I find the same thing.
Connection⦠and the ache of its absence.
The individual who can't shake a low-grade loneliness despite a full calendar. The team that has every process right and still can't trust each other. The leader who commands respect but has never once felt truly seen by the people they lead. Strip away the presenting problem, the problem people readily tell you about: the burnout, the conflict, the top-down pressure, the underperformance, the turnover and what's left is always relational and human. It always stems back to connection.
This is what pulls me back into the work, again and again. It is the mystery of why some people build relationships that regulate their nervous systems and fuel their lives, while others who are just as capable, just as well-intentioned, stay isolated in a crowd. Why some teams turn friction into trust and others let it calcify into silence. Why some organisations become places people fight to stay and others simply can't hold on to their best people.
I don't believe this is random. I believe it's science, the ancient wiring that makes us either brace against each other or open toward each other in a fraction of a second. My work, across individuals, couples, teams, leaders and organisations, is to unravel that wiring and hand people the blueprint to it.
Because when you fix connection, you don't just fix morale, or retention, or one difficult relationship. You fix the thing underpinning all of it. That is the work of The Science of Connection.
This programme isn't opinion. It's built and delivered by two registered psychologists, Kerry Maloney and Kieran Plasto, each with over 35 years of deep expertise in behavioural science, leadership performance and executive coaching and the science behind genuine connection for leadership success.
They bring the same calibre of insight used with senior leaders, high-performing teams, and international organisations into a format built for self-paced mastery.
You Don't Need To Become Someone Else
If you're naturally quiet, you get to stay quiet. If you're introverted, you don't have to turn into an extrovert. If you've spent years overthinking every conversation, you're not expected to suddenly become effortlessly confident.
And if you've always believed you're not good with people, you don't have to accept that as a permanent fact about yourself.
What you can do is learn to understand yourself, learn to read what's happening for the person in front of you, and become genuinely capable of creating interactions where people feel connected to you. All of it without pretending to be someone you are not.
Frequently Asked Questions
"I've Bought Courses Before And Never Finished Them."
Fair enough. Most of us have.
Courses usually stall because the value sits at the end, so you have to take it on faith for weeks before you get anything back. This one works the other way around. Each module hands you something to use in a conversation you were already going to have, which means you get evidence it works while you're still in the middle of it, and evidence is what keeps people going.
There's nothing to keep up with, no cohort to fall behind, and no schedule to manage. Learn it, try it, and notice what happens. Each module is approximately 20 minutes long and comes with an implementation worksheet to ensure you practise your newly learned skills.
"Can I do this if I am very anxious or socially awkward?"
Yes, this is exactly who The Foundations Programme was built for. Connection is a skill, wired into your neurobiology and skills can be trained. You'll learn the science behind why connection feels hard and the exact behavioural patterns that build warmth and trust with no confidence required to start! You just need a willingness to apply what the research shows works.
Is this just another course on communication and confidence?
No. Communication courses teach you what to say. The Foundation of The Science of Connection teaches you why connection happens at a biological level and gives you the science-backed tools to create it, reliably, in any relationship. This isn't just tips and tricks around presenting yourself well to others. It's the underlying architecture of human bonding, drawn from research on relationships, decades of social psychology research and neuroscience most people never get access to. You learn how to respond to cues from others and what to do when people are really tricky!
Is this just for use in work and your career rather than your personal life?
Not at all. The Foundations programme is the front door to the entire Science of Connection ecosystem and the skills you learn will apply everywhere that connection matters: your career, your team, your friendships, your family, your closest relationships, your future partners. Once you understand the science of how humans bond, you'll see it and use it in every part of your life.
Are there any live touchpoints with Kerry?
Yes and this is where the shift can really happen. Every month, Kerry goes live for a Q&A session, taking your real questions and real sticking points and unpacking them in real time. This isn't a static course you complete alone. It's a growing, evolving relationship with the science and with the person who has coached literally hundreds of people over 30 years, designed to take your learning from understood to embodied.
"This isn't a soft skills course. It's a competitive advantage."
Executive Director, State Government
"I came into this program fairly sceptical. I now recognise that my stress was running my leadership style, not my strategy. Going forward, I read a room before I try to control it. My exec team says I'm a different person. I'd say I'm the same person, finally operating at full capacity."
Senior Team Leader, Infrastructure
"Same results with half the friction. This is what leadership feels like without the armour."
Ops Manager, Financial Services
You've Spent Long Enough Assuming Everyone Else Got The Manual.
Now You Can Learn How Connection Actually Works.
Because real connection isn't created through perfect words. It's created through the experience of being genuinely present with another human being.
